The "Palais de la Promenade" housing complex, known as the
"Forum", is one of the most important works of the architect Georges
Dikansky. It is located in Nice and occupies an entire block with entrances on
3 arteries : 45/47 Promenade des Anglais, 1/3 Gambetta boulevard, and 2/4 Saint-Philippe
The Forum is an Art Deco style construction of 6 floors built in 1932 on a plot of 3,285sqm. Its seafront facade is perfectly symmetrical. The two vertical blocks that go beyond the roof were originally a clock and a barometer. The side facades on the Gambetta Boulevard and rue Saint-Philippe have a succession of oriel window that give to the apartments lateral views of the sea.
This complex includes about 70 apartments and shops. The west facade on Saint-Philippe Street was designed as a secondary part, today mainly consisting of studios with terraces. The central courtyard, originally planned, was replaced by a cinema that opened in 1933. After its closure in 1982, the local became a cafeteria and then a nightclub (High Club). Next door is the famous restaurant "Le Cocodile".
The Forum obtained in 2015 the label "Heritage of the twentieth century".
